US: “Seattle taxes property owners to fund neighbors’ political contributions”

“A lawsuit against a taxation plan in Seattle that collects revenue from property owners and allows residents to distribute the money to the campaigns of city council candidates of their choice is being submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court for review.

Pacific Legal Foundation, which is representing property owners Mark Elster and Sarah Pynchon, said its clients “don’t want to sponsor viewpoints they oppose.”…”

Now that’s gansta. Who needs fundraising laws when they can be avoided by stealing money and calling it “taxes.”
