As you guys know I play Phantasy Star Online 2 for PC. (Japanese servers) As of now I have a level 22 Gunner as my main class and a level 43 Ranger as my sub class. There are 6 classes to choose from. Hunter and Fighter are melee type classes. Force and Techer are magic type classes. Ranger and Gunner are ranged based classes based on high tech weaponry.
In the previous game, Phantasy Star Universe, my favorite class was Protranser. It was a class that used traps to hinder or contain the enemy. On this game I chose Ranger as my main in hopes that Protranser or EX traps (what Protransers use) would be added in the future. So far no such things have been added but the new classes are not bad either. Right now it seems Gunner/Ranger as a class/sub-class is the main boss killer. In my opinion this is mainly because of a move ranger has called weak shot. It makes the enemy with a target and whomever hits that target in your party gets a massive damage increase.
I still have a few things I want to test out on the game. I wont go into to much detail about them because I dont know how good the ideas are yet but I will say I feel that I have not yet optimized my strategies for the game.
Right now, from the looks of it, it looks like Force has the best crowd control technique. Its a gravity type move which sucks all enemies in. I’m watching that develop very closely. For Ranger there’s a launcher PA (photon art) I am interested in. It creates a decoy that explodes when enemies attack it. In (my) theory it seems to have some potential.
In any case it will be interesting to see how every class pans out when I reach level cap. Strategies that work at low level may not necessarily work at higher levels. As the game progresses I will keep you guys updated.
